The Bank of England today released its “Money and Credit” statistics for January 2014. In the release they have reported that the lending secured on dwellings has increased by £1.4 billion in January 2013, up from £1.2 billion on the previous 6 monthly average.

Part of these statistics now cover the Lending to Individuals and specifically the lending relevant to properties.

In the release they have reported that the lending secured on dwellings has increased by £1.4 billion in January 2013, up from £1.2 billion on the previous 6 monthly average.

Key figures

  • £1.4 billion increase on the monthly average over 6 months of loans secured on dwellings – up from £1.2 billion
  • 1.3% and 1.0% growth for the 3 month and 12 month annualised growth rates
  • Gross lending secured on dwellings in January 2013 was £17.2 billion

Mortgage Approvals

The Bank also reported on the number of loans approved in January which was 76,947. This is up considerably on the the 6 month average of 67,461.

Within this the loans approved specifically for remortgaging was 36,398, which was only just up against the 6 month average fo 35,248.
