FindaProperty.com’s have reported a 2.3% increase since March 2010 in their recent Rental Index. This places the average rents at £839pcm. This interestingly coincides with a 2.7% drop in stock levels.
“Rents have gone from strength to strength during the first half of 2010. The resurgence of the sales market has left tenants short of options and the result has been increasing rental prices.”
“We’re beginning to creep towards the equilibrium between stock levels and prices at which the market is perfectly balanced and neither party – tenant or landlord – can claim negotiating rights.”Nigel Lewis, property analyst at FindaProperty.com
Regionally quite a few regions have had strong growths in the last quarter at or above the average, with the top 3 being Yorkshire & Humber (3.4%), East (3.3%) and East Midlands (3.2%).
Yet some regions have had a drop in rental with the largest being North East (-2.3%) and then Wales (-0.9%).
