Landlords might be interested to hear that one industry expert thinks rental demand could outstrip supply in 2012.
According to Chris Horne, editor at Property Hawk – a website offering advice and information to new landlords – there is still strong demand as it is tough to attain mortgage finance.

His comments come after the Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) forecast earlier this month that demand could exceed supply for the majority of the year, as well as 2012.
And nearly 40 per cent of the ARLA offices predicted there will be more social landlords coming into the market next year.
Mr Horne stated he is “not surprised” the industry body has forecast an increase due to tenant demand being “so strong”.
He added: “There is quite a lot of uncertainty in terms of people’s jobs so people tend to rent when they are not absolutely certain about the future.”
