I just wanted to ask is it possible in the current climate to still make money from buying to renovate provising the property is purchased at the right price.

Yes it certainly is. BUT you must buy at the right price as I stress in my book
Also of course you must decide if your want tp renovate and then sell on, or whether you want to rent it out. This will dictate how you renovate it.
